The Paine Grande Area is located at the heart of Torres del Paine National Park in the XII Region, Republic of Chile, 350 km away from the city of Punta Arenas. The Lodge lies on the shore of Pehoé Lake looking to the Southern face of Paine Grande hill, which is crowned by Punta Bariloche on the plain where Quebrada de los Vientos ends.
It is strategically located in the old area of Pehoé Shelter and is only accessible via Lao Pehoé or by walking the trekking routes of the park. It forms part of the W Circuit and is considered as the base camp.
The Lodge can hold 100 people in 22 bedrooms with 3 and 2 bunks each. These rooms have a lovely view to Pehoé lake, the heights of Paine Grande, Valle del Francés and the east face of Cuernos del Paine. Each one of them has comfortable bunks and drawers to put away gear. However, we have a custody service and a safety box to keep valuable belongings.
The toilets are on the first and second floor and have wash basins, toilets and hot water showers, separated for men and women.
The lodge has a restaurant service for basic meals ( American breakfast, lunch and dinner ) which is a self service restaurant. In addition to this, it is possible to ask for box lunches for those who will do trekking that day or just savour a good coffee or beverage as well as tasty sandwichs, beer and wine.
The bar is on the second floor above the dining room. The “Paine Grande Bar” offers an assorted selection of Chilean wine. It is open from 16:00 to 24:00 p.m.
At the bar, at the tables or in comfortable armchairs, we can enjoy an excellent Pisco Sour with a lovely view to the southern face of Paine Grande, to the eastern face of Cuernos del Paine or to the green waters of Lake Pehoé. Without a shadow of doubt it is an excepcional place to plan the next walk or to comment the adventures in Patagonia
For those who are staying at the Lodge, moments of rest and relax with their trekking companions can be enjoyed sitting next to a warm stove in a comfortable armchair with an unimprovable view. In addition to this, there is a library on the second floor where we can rest or read the latest news.
Although one is sort of disconnected with the outside world, the Lodge has an Internet service which consists of two personal computers where we can connect ourselves with the outside world, check our e-mails and maybe even send the photographs of our trekkings in the park.
It is located on the northern shore of Pehoé Lake and in the vortex of the valleys of Grey Glacier and in the Valle del Francés, which is a meeting point for passengers who come from Los Cuernos shelter, Grey shelter and Pudeto shelter through Pehoé Lake on board the Campos de Hielos Sur catamaran and from the Administration Office of Las Carretas camping site. It has tents, sleeping bags, mats for rent which must be reserved in advance. There are toilets and hot water showers with a timetable. There is also a grocery store with all we may need and a public barbecue place sheltered from the weather conditions.
